CANCELED

As with many things in the past week, we are canceling the 2020 Big Sky GeoCon that was to be held in Missoula in April. You will receive a full refund for your registration fees and workshop fees. If you paid with credit card, the amount will be credited to your credit card. If you paid with a check, we will send your refund in a check format.

I would suggest that you cancel your hotel reservations. The Holiday Inn in Missoula has been very gracious in not charging MAGIP any penalties in light of the current situation.

We know that some of you have put work into presentations, and we want to acknowledge that and thank you. Hang on to it, we will look forward to seeing it at some point in the future.

As far as the workshops, we will send out the presenter’s contact information to those who had signed up for the workshops. The presenters may wish to do those in a different way, but that will be up to them.

Please feel free to contact myself, or any Board member if you do have questions.

I appreciate your patience as we work out any other details and questions that arise.

Be safe, be kind and stay well.

NG9-1-1 & Addressing Challenges Roundtable: Maintaining Structure and Transportation Datasets for the Future

With Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) rapidly approaching, GIS will become the core component used for all location validation, call routing, and mapping. NG911 requires a robust, accurate GIS that will support emergency Emergency Services, this will bring a whole new set of challenges to maintain structure points and transportation datasets. As this transition approaches it is imperative for public safety that local government GIS staff have the resources and training necessary to be compliant with NG911. The panelists will host a roundtable discussion of the challenges that local government GIS staff are facing to ensure a safe and seamless transition to NG911.
